Introduction of Natural Vitamin E

Why do we need Vitamin E

"Vitamin E, a crucial fat-soluble nutrient, plays a pivotal role in human health. However, it is worth noting that the primary source of natural vitamin E lies within certain foods and vegetable oils commonly found in our daily dietary intake. Hence, the question arises: where does this natural form of vitamin E originate from?"
Most natural vitamin E is derived from plant seeds. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble nutrient widely present in various substances, including cooking oils, vegetables, fruits, meats, grains, and more. Notably, nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts), seeds (like flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds), and vegetable oils (such as olive oil, sunflower oil) are excellent sources of vitamin E.
Additionally, through a series of extraction and purification processes from plant seeds emerges high-purity natural vitamin E that finds applications in food products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries.

What's the natural form of vitamin E?

RRR-alpha-tocopherol

Naturally sourced vitamin E is called RRR-alpha-tocopherol (commonly labeled as d-alpha-tocopherol);

The synthetically produced form is all rac-alpha-tocopherol (commonly labeled as dl-alpha-tocopherol).

Natural = d alpha-tocopherol
Synthetic = dl alpha-tocopheryl

NOTE: the differences are easy when you know what to look for. When looking for a NATURAL form of Vitamin E, always select one that is "d" (not "dl") and the word tocopherol ends with "ol" (not "yl").

Which one is better ? natural vitamin E or synthetic Vitamin E ?

In terms of absorption rate and physiological activity, natural vitamin E is higher than synthetic vitamin E, and relevant experimental studies have proved that natural vitamin E is 3.5 times higher than the absorption rate of synthetic vitamin E. However, in terms of stability, the stability of synthetic vitamin E is relatively better. It is important to note that both natural and synthetic vitamin E are present in medicines and health foods.

Natural Vitamin E is derived from vegetable oils, primarily soybean oil. Synthetic Vitamin E is produced from petrochemicals. A key difference scientists are examining is the structure of the compounds.

Natural Vitamin E is a single stereoisomer.

Synthetic E is a mixture of eight stereoisomers, only one of which is the same as natural Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol).

In synthetic Vitamin E, seven of the stereoisomers have different molecular configurations and lower biological activities when compared to natural Vitamin E. That means, the synthetic versions are less capable at providing health benefits in the body.

How to tell Vitamin E: natural or synthetic ?

But with vitamin E, natural is better. On a supplement label, natural vitamin E is listed as d-alpha tocopherol, d-alpha tocopheryl acetate, or d-alpha tocopheryl succinate. In contrast, synthetic forms of vitamin E are labeled with a dl- prefix.

-improve vision, diabetic retinopathy, eye trauma and so on have a certain effect.

In Food

-strong antioxidant, can maintain the fresh flavor of food, suitable for the production of a variety of functional health fortified food, especially as an antioxidant, nutritional fortifier for infant food.

Dosage

Take adequate amounts of vitamin E, adults must take 14mg/ day.

For example, the net content of each capsule is 250mg, and the content of active ingredients (such as vitamin E) is 1g per 100g, meaning that the content of vitamin E is 1%, then the content of active ingredients per capsule =250×1%=2.5mg.

The adult requirement is 2.5mg×6=15mg, take 6 capsules/day.
