Polyquaternium-10

Polyquaternium-10 can form a protective film on the surface of hair, filling the gaps between hair scales and temporarily repairing damage caused by hot tools, chemical perming, or ultraviolet radiation. This film can enhance the glossiness and smoothness of hair, making it feel smoother and reducing friction damage caused by mechanical combing. For damaged hair, it can also improve branching and drying problems, but it should be noted that it can only provide surface repair, and deep repair requires the combination of protein products.

The negative charge generated by friction on hair can cause frizz and tangling. Polyquaternium-10 carries a positive charge and can neutralize static electricity, allowing hair scales to adhere and significantly reducing combing resistance. It is particularly suitable for dry, rough, or easily knotted hair. This feature is more effective in wet hair and can reduce pulling damage during wet combing.

As a film-forming agent, the breathable film formed by polyquaternium-10 can reduce hair moisture evaporation and adsorb moisture from the environment, maintaining hair moisture. For hair that has been dyed or exposed to dry environments for a long time, this function can effectively alleviate dryness and split hair problems. In addition, the film can also block external pollutants such as ultraviolet rays and dust, reducing the risk of further damage.

During the hair washing process, polyquaternium-10 interacts with anionic surfactants to form a "coagulation layer" that helps conditioning ingredients such as silicone oil and oil to be more efficiently adsorbed onto the hair, rather than being washed away by water. The higher its molecular weight and nitrogen content, the stronger its ability to encapsulate other hair care ingredients, thereby achieving low concentration and high effect.
