Ceteareth-25 is synthesized via ethoxylation reaction of natural-derived cetearyl alcohol with an average addition of 25 moles ethylene oxide under catalytic conditions. As a high HLB nonionic surfactant, it forms a compact interfacial film at the oil-water interface, reducing surface tension significantly to stabilize O/W emulsion systems. Its long alkyl carbon chain provides thickening and structuring effects, while the polyoxyethylene segment endows excellent water solubility and moisturizing retention capacity by forming an occlusive protective film on skin and hair surface to inhibit trans-epidermal water loss. The molecular structure features low surface activity irritation, enabling good intermolecular compatibility with anionic, cationic and other nonionic surfactants, without causing emulsion delamination or flocculation in compound formula systems. Cosmetic grade products strictly control 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide residual content to meet global cosmetic raw material safety standards.
