Pure Papain Powder Off‑White to Light Yellow Free‑Flowing Powder

Papain is a cysteine protease with a catalytic domain containing a thiol group at the active site. It hydrolyzes peptide bonds preferentially at the carboxyl side of basic amino acids (Arg, Lys) and hydrophobic residues, breaking down native proteins, peptides, and denatured proteins into small peptides or amino acids under moderate temperature and pH.

Its activity is enhanced by cysteine, sulfite, or EDTA, and inhibited by heavy metals, oxidizing agents, or alkylating reagents. It remains stable over a wide pH range (3.0–9.0) and shows good thermostability below 65°C.
